Tri-Cities Info

The Tri-Cities is an area in Washington State. The Tri-Cities is actually three adjacent cities in the convergence of the Snake, and Columbia rivers in the Columbia Basin of Western Washington. Each of these cities border each other, so it appears to be one continuous mid-size city.

Tri-Cities is a unique area in that it lies between two very large mountain ranges: The Cascades and The Olympic Mountains. It is also very short on commercial development. Because of these conditions, the Tri-Cities area has developed a reputation as being a beautiful, vibrant environment. Tri-Cities was originally settled by Hiawatha Indians who settled in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains. Today, the city is home to a multicultural population. Many of its citizens are from Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.

Many neighborhoods along the rivers are connected with the downtown areas through mass transit systems. Tri Cities residents enjoy an excellent public transportation system in the form of highway and bus service. There are also a number of bike paths and walking paths throughout the city.

Tri Cities residents also enjoy a diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. This includes residents who are ethnically Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Pakistani, and Bosnian. Tri Cities neighborhoods such as the Washington Park area of Columbia, or Cherry Creek, attract people who are from these various ethnic backgrounds. Many folks work in information technology or finance.

Tri Cities neighborhoods generally have a strong home owner's association. In some cases, home owners associations will fight against development.

Tri-Cities does have much going for it. The area is close to Portland and Seattle, and is also unique in its own way. Residents enjoy the living here. Most residents consider it to be just the right size of city, not too big or not too small.
